Social Work Anti-Racist Coalition of Kentucky

Social workers in Kentucky today announced the formation of the Social Work Anti-Racism Coalition of Kentucky (SWARCK), bringing education and delivering action and accountability to the profession. The Social Worker Anti-Racism Coalition of Kentucky believes it is the responsibility of social workers to focus on the elimination of white supremacy in micro, mezzo, and macro levels of practice. Our work is powered by intersectionality, social justice, social action, institutional accountability, practice reform, and policy activism.

We will focus on a tiered system of goals across all levels of social work practice, including clinical, organizational, academia, and political advocacy. We will deliver concrete goals for assessment, action, and accountability at each level of practice.

The SWARCK is important and urgently needed to provide education, calls to action, and an ongoing and sustainable force against white supremacy in Kentucky.

Our first call to action is for all social workers to be involved at any level and contribute to this important mission. We will quickly form a list of goals for social workers in Kentucky.
